Beekeeping & Clover

A local beekeeper came in to my office of the LSU AgCenter to ask about clovers for his bee hives. He wanted to plant clover on his firebreaks nears his hive. After we visited, I found this AgCenter publication titles: Cool-season Pasture & Forage Varieties 2011-2012. This flyer was written for forage production, but I think it could help our apiarist who want to plant legumes because it has a list of suitable varieties for our climate. There are also planting guidelines.

Here is the link to enable a beekeeper to download a PDF file of this document: http://www.lsuagcenter.com/NR/rdonlyres/342D20BC-46D6-460A-9FCE-9801E9423228/80245/pub2334coolseason2011LOWRES.pdf

Thank you for reading this inaugural blog of “Beauregard Parish Country Life”.
